This was a great movie! I recommend watching it before reading the book if you're anything like me. Calvin was supposed to have a much bigger presence, and in the end of the movie he seemed to be neglected and did not seem to have to be there. Aunt Beast was acknowledged, but I was really looking forward to seeing her look over Meg. I was really disappointed when my second favorite character (my favorite is Charles Wallace) was taken out of the movie. Even when Aunt Beast was acknowledged it did not make complete sense because Aunt Beast is not her real name. Meg decided to call her that. When the Happy Medium called her that, it was somewhat confusing, because I'm sure she has a name in her native language. On an unrelated note, the Happy Medium is supposed to be a girl. I'm sure there is a female actor who could play that role. Speaking of excluded characters, Dennys and Sandy were not in the movie at all. They provided someone "normal" for Meg to compare herself to and feel alone/weird. I see no need for Veronica to be in the movie. Why did Madeleine L'Engle not include her in the book? Because having Meg face the friendship problems of a girl is not necessary. Veronica actually provides a second conflict for Meg to face, getting Veronica to be nicer to her, which draws attention away from the real conflict of finding her father. Also, Charles Wallace is not dragged into It. He willingly goes, trying to save Meg and Calvin. I believe this was an important scene, because Charles Wallace is rebelling against what he was warned, which those who have not read the book don't know what I'm talking about because the Mrs.'s only gave gifts to Meg, even though in the book gifts are given to all three children. "A Wrinkle in Time" was a decent movie, but I feel as though too much was left out of the movie that was included in the book.
